How come during the 50s and 60s BLACK civil rights ORGANIZATIONS made progress?
Q. like sclc and the naacp how come it took so long for civil rights organizations to succeed? obviously I didnt get the answer I needed. I AM doing my homework and i made up the question for an essay. jeez.

A. They were organized and thought more strategically about how to achieve their objectives. See Carl Rowan's book, Dreamcatchers about Thurgood Marshall and the civil rights attorneys of the 50's & 60's. They orchestrated the challenge to "separate but equal" schooling in several carefully planned steps, eventually leading to the landmark US Supreme Court ruling in Brown versus the Board of Education.
